Western weapons supplied to Ukraine belong to Ukrainians: Stoltenberg declares the right to strike on Russian territory

Western weapons supplied to our country already belong to Ukrainians. Therefore, it is up to Ukraine to decide whether or not to strike the territory of the occupying country.

This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a meeting of the Alliance's Parliamentary Assembly in Bulgaria. He noted that Ukrainians have the right to self-defense, and this includes strikes against legitimate military targets outside our country, including the territory of Russia.

"It's time to think about whether some restrictions should be lifted. We see that in the Kharkiv region, the front line and the border are practically in the same place, and Ukraine cannot attack military facilities in Russia. This means that Ukrainians have their hands tied. They are being attacked from the territory of Russia, and they cannot respond because there are restrictions on their use of weapons," the Secretary General said.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called on the Alliance to lift "some restrictions" on the use of weapons provided to Ukraine. According to him, Ukraine has the right to defend itself, and this defense should include strikes on military targets in Russia.

Poland and Sweden supported this position, while Germany and Italy spoke out against it. For example, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Berlin provided weapons to Ukraine on the condition that they would not be used for attacks outside of Ukraine.

U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken recently said that the United States does not encourage the use of Western weapons to strike Russia, but Ukraine has the right to decide how to wage war.
