"We continue to move forward": Syrskyi spoke about successes in Kursk region and explained whether it affected the situation near Pokrovsk

Syrskyi told about successes in Kursk region

Ukrainian troops continue the operation in the Kursk region. The Ukrainian army is advancing and having some success.

For its part, the Russian military command is deploying reserves to the Kursk region, hoping to halt the advance of Ukrainian troops. This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, answering a question from an OBOZ.UA correspondent at the Forum with the country's leadership.

According to Syrskyi, the Russian occupation army was shelling Ukraine's border areas from the Kursk region every day, causing our country to suffer civilian casualties. The enemy also concentrated a significant number of troops in this area and planned an offensive.

Therefore, in order to stop the shelling and disrupt the enemy's plans to attack Ukraine, it was decided to launch an offensive operation in the Kursk sector.

"We continue to advance, inflicting significant losses on Russian troops in manpower and equipment. As of today, we have taken control of 1294 square kilometers of territory and 100 settlements located on this territory. Also, thanks to the successful actions of our troops, we have significantly replenished the exchange fund. As of today, 594 servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces have been captured in this area," said Syrskyi.

He also emphasized that one of the objectives of the operation in the Kursk sector was to divert significant enemy forces, primarily from the Pokrovsk and Kurakhiv directions. The Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully accomplished this task, as the enemy has deployed about 30,000 troops to Kursk region and continues to bring reserves there.

At the same time, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that despite the deployment of forces to the Kursk region, the enemy is focusing its efforts on the Pokrovsk direction in Donetsk region. More than 50 combat engagements take place in this area of the frontline every day.

Syrsky said that in the Pokrovsk sector the enemy is using its superiority in manpower and equipment, actively using artillery and aviation. However, the main offensive actions are conducted by assault groups.

"The enemy is advancing at a very high cost, and the Defense Forces are doing everything possible to stop its advance. Every day our soldiers neutralize up to 300 invaders in this area. We are actively working on engineering equipment of our borders. Despite all the difficulties, the situation is under our control," said Syrskyi.

As a reminder, the aggressor country Russia is massively sending conscripts from almost all Russian regions to the Kursk region, where the Ukrainian Defense Forces are continuing their operation. In an attempt to hold back the Ukrainian Armed Forces' offensive, the Russian dictator has once again broken his promises – he has repeatedly claimed that conscripts will not be sent to war.

Earlier, ISW reported that Russia is redeploying forces from lower-priority areas of the front line in Ukraine to Kursk region. In particular, the enemy is sending reinforcements to this Russian region from Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv regions.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, The Washington Post wrote that the strike of Ukrainian troops on Russian defenses in the Kursk region during the first invasion of Russian territory after World War II exposed the Kremlin's illusory red lines and showed Putin's passive and muted reaction. This reaction contrasts sharply with his rhetoric at the beginning of the full-scale war against Ukraine.
