Von der Leyen: Europe will continue to support Ukraine, otherwise Russia may attack EU countries

Ursula von der Leyen said that Russian aggression must be stopped

Europe will not allow Russia's full-scale aggression against the Ukrainian state to end with any success for Moscow. Therefore, the European Union will continue to help Kyiv defend itself against the aggressor.

This was stated by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on Sunday, December 10, Le Parisien reports. She noted that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin does not hide his ambitions to "recreate Russia with the imperial scale of the past."

Some European Union states could be in danger if Moscow wins. Therefore, Moscow must be stopped now and its aggression against an EU member must be prevented.

"Therefore, a Russian victory would affect the stability of our continent, our ability to live in peace and our long-term prosperity," the EC President said.

She added that only the Ukrainian people should determine the conditions for a just peace. Europe is obliged to help and support the country.

Von der Leyen emphasized that on December 14 and 15, the European Council will hold a meeting, during which the EC will reaffirm that "Europe will support Ukraine as long as it takes."

"We owe our current peace and prosperity to the Allied victory in World War II, and to the peace made possible by building Europe and defending NATO. Ukrainians are fighting for the same thing, and it is our duty and our interest to stand by their side for as long as it takes," she said.

According to OBOZ.UA, NATO has a strategy to ensure the security of Latvia and other Baltic countries from a potential Russian attack. The Alliance will not wait until Moscow recovers from its defeat in Ukraine, but is already developing plans to protect every meter of its territory.
