Ukraine has already used the latest "Palianytsia" drone missile of its own production. This use was successful.

Now the manufacturer of the "Palianytsia" is tasked with scaling up production as soon as possible so that the new weapons can be delivered to the troops. This was stated by the former head of Ukroboronprom and now Minister of Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin.

The official, who took over the Ministry of Strategic Industries on September 5 this year, said that Ukraine has already used the "Palianytsia" to strike at Russian territory.

"It was a successful use. Today, the main task facing the manufacturer of this missile is to scale up production so that as many of these weapons as possible can get into our Armed Forces, this is the main task that needs to be implemented," Smetanin said.

At the same time, the minister added that despite the rapid development of its own weapons production, Ukraine remains dependent on the support of its allies. He emphasized that in today's world, there is hardly a country that is completely independent in this area.

"Even Russia, which today has a much larger budget, spending on the purchase and production of weapons and military equipment, purchases military equipment from its allies," Smetanin summarized.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the first use of new Ukrainian weapons to defeat enemy targets during the Independence Day celebrations on August 24, 2024. According to him, the successful launch was carried out on the 33rd "birthday" of independent Ukraine.

"Today, a completely new weapon was used for the first time – the Ukrainian drone missile "Palianytsia". This is our new method of retaliation against the aggressor. The enemy has been defeated. It will be very difficult for the Russians, it will be difficult to even say what exactly came, it will be difficult to resist, but it is easy to understand why," Zelenskyy said at the time.

It was reported that the "Palianytsia" had hit an enemy facility in the temporarily occupied territory. At the same time, the network suspected that this particular weapon had been used to hit a Russian military depot in Ostrohozk, Voronezh region, in late August.

Little is known about the tactical and technical characteristics of the new weapon.

According to the "Militarnyi" portal, the new jet-powered kamikaze drone made its first flight in January 2024. The development, noted by the journalists who published the alleged image of the novelty, is an unmanned aerial vehicle with front horizontal plumage. In the aft part, there is a power plant of an unknown type, which is a jet engine.

According to the portal, the presence of air intakes suggests that the drone is not equipped with a rocket engine, and the engine thrust is adjustable.

Already on August 25, Zelenskyy showed a video that probably shows a Ukrainian missile drone.

At the same time, it became known that the "Palianytsia's" range includes two dozen Russian military airfields. It is launched from a ground platform. The engine of the drone missile is turbojet, and its cost is much lower than its Western counterparts. At the same time, developers are working to reduce its cost even further and scale up production.

At the same time, neither the combat radius of the drone missile, nor its warhead, nor the manufacturer are disclosed.

On September 18, it became known that Lithuania plans to provide €40-50 million in aid to Ukraine by the end of 2024, of which €10 million will be invested in the production of "Palianytsia."
