The Ukrainian military uses robotic dogs for reconnaissance at the front. Video

Robots can become an invaluable ally of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the front line

Ukraine's defenders are already using robot dogs as scouts at the front. Such a robot dog can work for up to four hours, has a load capacity of up to 8 kg and a speed of 3.5 m/s, which makes it one of the fastest robots.

The Ukrainian military showed a video of robot dogs in action on the front line. In particular, the Defense Forces are successfully using them in the Toretsk sector.

Thus, the soldiers of the Kurt & Company group of the 28th separate mechanized brigade showed how their robopet scans the streets of Toretsk, conducting reconnaissance.

Iron Dogs are hard to detect, and the battery lasts long enough to complete a reconnaissance mission.

The robot dog can also be used to detect mines and improvised explosive devices, as well as to transport up to seven kilograms of ammunition or medicine to hot spots on the battlefield.

Robot dogs are a development of Unitree Robotics, the Go2 Pro model , which was introduced in 2023.

The cost of the device can range from $1,600 to $3,100. It is equipped with many tracking sensors, so it was easily adapted to military operations.

For example, in Ukraine, the BAD One model was presented to replace the military in dangerous missions, such as spying on Russian trenches or detecting mines.

Stealthy and maneuverable, the robots could soon become an invaluable ally on the front lines for the Ukrainian army, which lacks the manpower to fight off Russian aggression, according to developers, The Kyiv Post reports.

Due to their low height, robots are difficult to detect and can also use thermal imaging to inspect enemy trenches or the interior of buildings in combat zones.

"This dog limits the risk to soldiers and increases operational capabilities. This is the main function of the dog," a robopet operator who works for a British company that supplies military equipment told reporters.

If the robot dog suddenly falls into Russian hands, an emergency switch will allow the operator to erase all data.

The military has not yet shown the more advanced BAD Two model for security reasons.
