"The resource potential is decreasing": Feigin explains why Russia has fewer people willing to go to war against Ukraine

The number of Russians who want to fight is decreasing

The Kremlin is forced to increase payments to contractors to keep them fighting against Ukraine. The fact is that the Russians who joined the mercenaries because of the urgent need for money are already either "two hundred" or "three hundred".

The aggressor state's manpower resources are declining. According to Russian human rights activist Mark Feigin, potential occupants are already better aware of the realities of the "SMO" and are aware of the high risk of death. The oppositionist commented on this topic in an interview with OBOZ.UA.

"Those who wanted to, who felt an urgent need for money, have already died or been injured. Undoubtedly, the resource potential [of Russia] is decreasing," Feigin said.

In large Russian cities, it is even more difficult to find mercenaries because residents can find a suitable salary on their own.

"Plus, it involves the risk of death. More than two and a half years have passed, and people are coming back and telling us what is happening there, not from propaganda front pages, but from real people. They say that this is not fishing, not entertainment and that people are dying like flies there. So we have to stimulate them with money. What other stimulants are there? Should we announce a new mobilization? What if they don't go, what if they are outraged?" said Feigin.

Answering the question about where the whole process is heading, the human rights activist pointed out the importance of military assistance to Ukraine from the West.

"As for the forecast in general, everyone is waiting for the US elections, who will win – [Donald] Trump or [Kamala] Harris. This political factor will also affect the military situation," he summarized.

As previously reported by OBOZ.UA:

– The Institute for War Studies said that Russian troops advanced east of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region on August 4 and made further gains in the area. There, the enemy relies on infantry breakthrough tactics rather than armored vehicles.

– The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces informed that a total of 124 combat engagements were recorded on August 4, including about 30 in the Pokrovsk sector.
