Syrskyi reported to Zelenskyy on strengthening the positions of the Armed Forces in Kursk region and replenishing the exchange fund
New Russian military prisoners have been captured in the Kursk region of Russia. In addition, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have strengthened their positions and expanded the stabilized territory.
This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, in a report to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on August 17. Zelensky shared the details on his official Telegram channel.
"The operation in the Kursk region. As of this morning, there is a replenishment of the exchange fund for our state," the head of state said.
Zelenskyy thanked all the soldiers and commanders who take Russian soldiers prisoner and thus "bring the release of our soldiers and civilians held by Russia closer."
"General Syrskyi also reported on the strengthening of the positions of our forces in Kursk region and the expansion of the stabilized territory," the president said.
In addition, he said that the situation in the Toretsk and Pokrovsk directions is under control, despite dozens of Russian assaults.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, on August 17, the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that their soldiers continue to make steady progress in the Kursk region.
The ISW, in turn, indicated that the Defense Forces had advanced southeast of Sudzha the day before and remained present in all the territory claimed to be under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. At the same time, the UAF allegedly destroyed two bridges over the Seim River.
