Russians spread Zaluzhny's fake appeal trying to form public opinion about the split between the government and the military in Ukraine. Video

Russian resources have spread a fake address by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny. In it, the general allegedly criticizes President Volodymyr Zelensky, calls on Ukrainians to protest in city squares, and tells the military not to obey "criminal orders" from their commanders.

In fact, this video is a deepfake (to watch the video, scroll to the bottom of the page). This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

Zaluzhny's "appeal" was created and spread by the enemy on TikTok, X (Twitter) and Telegram. The author of the video is the Telegram account of Radio Trukha.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not address Ukrainians and did not call for a military coup in the country (in the video, he allegedly says that the military should come to power). With this and similar fakes, the Russians are trying to sow panic among the Ukrainian population and create an opinion in society about the split between the government and the military.

"The Center warned that Russia would start spreading information about the split between the president and the top military leadership in its forecast of 07.11.2023," the CCD noted.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the American newspaper The New York Times published an article that allegedly sheds light on the rift in the relationship between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the military leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, represented by General Valery Zaluzhny.

The author of this high-profile article was Andrew Kramer, the Kyiv-based editor of The New York Times, who previously worked in Moscow. He was previously known for calling Azov "Nazis" and lying about the "civil war" in Donbas.
