"Russia has violated the UN Charter": Baerbock explains why Ukraine has every right to strike at Russian targets

Baerbock calls drone attacks on Moscow legal

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock believes that the drone strikes on Moscow, which Russia accuses Ukraine of, do not violate international law. After all, it was Russia that attacked Ukraine, and it has a legitimate right to defend itself.

Baerbock said this at a joint press conference with Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsakhkna. Her words were quoted by the German national news service Tagesschau.

"Russia attacked Ukraine in violation of the UN Charter, which prohibits the use of force, so Ukraine has a legitimate right to defend its country and its people," the German Foreign Minister said, answering journalists' questions about the attacks by Ukrainian drones on Russian territory.

Baerbock stressed that Russia launches missile attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine and civilians every day. She stressed that Russia is responsible for what is happening in Ukraine.

"Russia is continuously bombing civilian targets in Ukraine: granaries, hospitals, churches. And Ukraine is defending itself within the framework of international law," she said.

The German foreign minister added that Russian troops have mined a huge area in Ukraine "roughly the size of western Germany". According to Annalena Baerbock, the Armed Forces of Ukraine primarily need material and equipment as part of a counter-offensive to overcome Russian minefields, and Berlin is currently discussing assistance to Kyiv in demining with its allies.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL:

On the night of 22 August, Moscow was again attacked by unknown UAVs. All airports in the Russian capital closed departures and landings.

On 11 August, the skies over Vnukovo Airport were closed, and the "Carpet" regime was in effect. The airspace over Kaluga Airport was also closed. Later, explosions were reported in the Russian capital and in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Region.

British intelligence has stated that drone attacks, which have recently become more frequent throughout Russia, including in its capital Moscow, are of strategic importance. After all, Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin must have been convinced that his bloody war in Ukraine would not affect Russians.
