Romania has made the final procedural decision to transfer the Patriot system to Ukraine. On Thursday, September 5, President Klaus Iohannis signed a decree to that effect.

This is reported on the official website of the Romanian president. It is a supplement to Article 1 of Law No. 222/2017 "Ground-based air defense capabilities".

The Patriot air and missile defense system will be donated to our country. This step is envisaged in the bilateral agreement on security cooperation signed by Iohannis and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in July this year.

The decision was first approved by the Romanian government on September 2. The very next day, the lower house of parliament also voted in favor of a law authorizing the free transfer of the Patriot air defense system to the Armed Forces,

"As soon as President Klaus Johannis signs the law, the government will issue an order for the donation," the authorities stated.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

– In early September, Norway allocated 570 million Norwegian kroner (more than $53 million) for Ukraine for drones and strengthening air defense. Oslo noted that Kyiv needs more military equipment to protect itself from Russian aggression.

– According to Reuters, Germany will transfer 12 IRIS-T SLM systems to Ukraine, and the first half will be deployed to our territory by the end of this year.
