Putin says he is ready for talks with Ukraine and names a condition, recalling recent events in Belgorod and Kursk regions
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has once again declared his readiness for talks with Ukraine. However, he said that they should be based "on the realities on the ground." The Kremlin leader said that Russia is not at a crossroads and that it is allegedly on a strategic path of development and will not give up on it.
The Russian leader said this in an interview with propagandist Dmitry Kiselyov. In particular, the dictator is worried that the period of possible negotiations will be a "pause for rearmament of Kyiv", not a "serious conversation."
"Are we ready for negotiations? Yes, we are, but we are only ready for negotiations that are based not on some 'wishes' shared as psychotropic drugs kick in but on the realities that have developed, as they say in such cases, on the ground," Putin said.
He also spoke about the raids by Russian volunteer battalions in Kursk and Belgorod regions of Russia on March 12. The dictator said that this invasion was an attempt, if not to disrupt, then to interfere with the normal process of elections in the Russian Federation, which are planned for March 17.
Putin also called the invasion of volunteers an attempt by Ukraine "to boast of something against the background of failures" and an attempt, if successful, to get a trump card in a possible future negotiation process. He said it plans to use it as "a leverage for an exchange of territories."
To recap, Pope Francis has called for negotiations in Russia's war in Ukraine. The pontiff did not specify the terms but noted that one of the parties must show "the courage to raise the white flag."
"The word 'negotiations' is a bold word. When you see that you have been defeated and that things are not going well, you need to have the courage to negotiate," Francis said.
President Zelenskyy said that Russian dictator Putin demonstrated what kind of dialogue he was really ready for when he launched a missile strike on Odesa during the visit of the Greek delegation. According to the head of state, the Kremlin leader wants negotiations only to get a pause, prepare the army, and launch a new aggression against Ukraine.
At the same time, Zelenskyy believes that freezing the war in Ukraine would be a serious challenge and a big problem for our country. After all, the cessation of active hostilities would mean not a pause in the war but an opportunity for respite for Russian President Vladimir Putin and his troops.
