Poland says Ukraine may receive MiG-29 fighters from several countries: there are clear signals

Polish government spokesman Piotr Müller said that several countries are ready to send MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine. According to him, Warsaw has received a clear signal from these countries.

Bloomberg reported on it on Wednesday, March 15. The Polish official noted that the issue of providing Kyiv with Soviet fighter jets is being discussed by several countries.

At the same time, Müller did not specify which countries he was talking about.

Earlier, Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, said that Warsaw could provide Ukraine with MiG-29s within the next 4-6 weeks. According to him, this will be a signal to NATO member states who are cautious about sending air forces to Ukraine.

Minister of Defence of the Slovak Republic Jaroslav Naď also said that his country was considering providing Ukraine with 10 out of 11 MiG-29s. Another fighter jet, he said, is reserved for a Slovak museum. The final decision is to be made by the Slovak government.

Other NATO members with MiG fighters in service include Bulgaria, Croatia, and Romania.

The MiG-29 is a fourth-generation Soviet multi-role fighter aircraft. It was the main multi-role fighter of the Warsaw Pact countries and the USSR during the 1980s. It is currently in service in many countries, including Ukraine.

As OBOZREVATEL reported, the spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, Yurii Ihnat, said that MiG-29 fighters, which Poland and Slovakia could provide to Ukraine, would increase the combat capability of the Ukrainian army's aircraft fleet. However, Ukraine needs more modern aircraft.
