Oleshky on the verge of a humanitarian catastrophe: there is no electricity and water, the dead remain under the rubble

On the left bank of the Kherson region, the Russian military is trying to hide all the terrible consequences of the floods caused by the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. Their goal is to prevent the spread of information about this disaster so that it does not become known to the international community. As a result of the explosion, 17 settlements were flooded and are still under the threat of a humanitarian disaster.

The head of the Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, said this during a telethon. According to him, in the immediate aftermath of the incident, the Russian military did not engage in evacuation and clean-up efforts.

"There is a terrible stench in Oleshky now, the sewage system is not working, there is no electricity or drinking water almost everywhere. And we understand that there will be dead people under the rubble of their homes. At the same time, the occupiers ignore the missions that have repeatedly appealed to them to help people," says the head of the Regional Military Administration.

According to official figures, Oleksandr Prokudin reports that 11 people died as a result of the flooding in Oleshky. Officials managed to identify the dead and establish the exact cause of their deaths.

"This figure is greatly underestimated, as Russia is trying to hide the fact of mass deaths. They have completely quarantined the city. The bodies of the dead residents are being taken away, and doctors are not allowed to examine them to establish the true cause of death. The situation in the Golopristanskaya community is also very difficult. The settlements are so flooded that people cannot get to their homes. There is also no electricity or water," Prokudin said.
