Hugs and tears of happiness: State Border Guard Service of Ukraine shows emotional photos of border guards released from Russian captivity
Footage of the first meeting between the border guards, who had returned from captivity the day before, and their families was posted online. The defenders and their families could not hold back their tears of happiness.
The emotional photos were posted on the official Telegram channel of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. The soldiers, whose relatives did not yet know about their return, called their families to inform them that they were alive and at home.
On January 3, 230 Ukrainian soldiers and civilians were returned to Ukraine from Russian captivity. Some of them were defending Mariupol and Azovstal.
Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine and Russia conducted the largest exchange of prisoners of war on January 3, with 230 Ukrainian defenders returning home. Experts believe that the aggressor country took this step in pursuit of its own goals, which it will later use in information campaigns.
Earlier, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported that since the beginning of the full-scale war, 2,828 Ukrainian citizens have been returned from Russian captivity. This process will continue.
