Foreign Ministry reacts to yet another execusion of Ukrainian captives in Donetsk region, calling it an atrocity

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called another shooting of six Ukrainian prisoners of war by the Russian occupiers an atrocity. The Ministry called on the international community not to turn a blind eye to each such execusions, which, contradicting all international norms, have already become a usual tactics of the occupiers.

A corresponding message was issued by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heorhiy Tykhyi, on January 23. He also clarified that the foreign ministry had already passed on information about the shooting to partners and "key international organizations."

"Again, unfortunately, we see a horrific video being spread online showing the Russians shooting Ukrainian - unarmed, I emphasize - prisoners of war once again. I think this is a reminder to the whole world of the kind of animals we are dealing with in Ukraine," the Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

He stated that this Russian tactics is systematic, "testifying to the barbaric nature" of the terrorist counry. And the recent case is another reminder that Russia's goal is the complete destruction of Ukrainians.

"We insist that there should be an international reaction to every such execusion. A reaction from foreign leaders, from foreign states, international, governmental and non-governmental organizations," added Tykhyi.

As reported, Russian occupants captured at least seven AFU soldiers during an assault on Ukrainian positions in Donetsk region. Later, the invaders shot six of them, unarmed, while the fate of another soldier is unknown.

In this regard, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine launched a pre-trial investigation into the commission of a war crime that resulted in the death of people (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, passed on the relevant information to the UN and the Red Cross.

We also reported that Russian war criminals executed three Ukrainian prisoners of war near Neskuchne, Volnovakha district, Donetsk region. Despite the fact that the defenders of Ukraine voluntarily surrendered, the occupiers tied their hands and shot them dead in the head.
