In Vovchansk, Kharkiv region, fighting continues throughout the city and the surrounding areas, and the occupiers have increased pressure in the direction of the villages of Starytsia and Lyptsi to get closer to Kharkiv. The situation is under control of Ukrainian defenders.

Yevhen Romanov, spokesman for the Kharkiv operational and tactical group of troops, said this during a telethon on November 14. In particular, he said that there are no civilians in Vovchansk, "as well as no civilian buildings."

According to Romanov, the Russian occupiers are trying to move towards Starytsia and Lyptsi to get closer to the regional center.

"There (in Lyptsi – ed.), the defense is also ongoing... This direction is reliably controlled by Ukrainian defenders," he said.

The spokesman added that the enemy's approach to Kharkiv would allow the Russians to deploy positions to shell the city with cannon artillery.

At the same time, any artillery and other enemy forces that are detected are immediately destroyed by the fire of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, Romanov assured.

He also said that in recent days, the aggressor has begun to use tanks and other armored vehicles more actively during assaults in the Kharkiv region.

"The enemy used armored vehicles, including tanks and armored combat vehicles. Before that, he had been attacking exclusively with infantry forces, small infantry groups that advanced in the dark under the cover of rain or fog so that they would not be noticed by Ukrainian reconnaissance assets. They failed and decided to throw armored vehicles into the battle. It remained on the battlefield," informed the spokesman.

The main goal of the enemy now is to enter the territory of Ukraine as far as possible and gain a foothold, added Romanov.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the city of Vovchansk no longer exists due to the Russian offensive in Kharkiv region, which has been going on for about six months. Only the foundations of apartment buildings remain, and civilians have left this once thriving city.
