Soldiers of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine have liberated an aggregate plant in Vovchansk, which was seized by Russian occupants during an offensive in the north of Kharkiv region.

This was reported by the DIU press service on September 24. A video with footage of the operation in Vovchansk was also published.

"On Tuesday, September 24, at 14:40, the commander of the DIU's special unit "Timur" reported to the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov on the successful completion of the operation," the statement said.

The operation was carried out by the DIU's special groups Stugna, Paragon, RDC, Junger, BDK, and Terror.

The DIU also said that the special forces carried out systematic clearing of buildings, constantly engaging in contact battles with the enemy in dense buildings.

In some cases, Ukrainian special forces engaged the enemy in hand-to-hand combat.

The Russians turned the aggregate plant into their propaganda "fortress," involving the most motivated and professional units in its defense, including even soldiers of the 45th Airborne Forces Brigade (Kubinka, Moscow), intelligence sources said.

In addition, a significant amount of artillery, kamikaze strike drones, KABs, and heavy flamethrower systems "Solntsepyok" were continuously used against the DIU soldiers.

"Despite the enemy's fierce resistance, the DIU fighters managed to destroy the enemy, take prisoners, and replenish the exchange fund. The territory of the aggregate plant was transferred to the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine after clearing all 30 buildings of the facility," the DIU said in a statement.

As OBOZ.UA reported, the other day the Rubizh brigade of the National Guard announced good news for Ukraine regarding the situation at the aggregate plant in Vovchansk. According to the officer of the brigade, Volodymyr Cherniak, this facility has become a big problem for the Russian troops.

Earlier, ISW noted that Ukraine has made some progress in the area of Vovchansk. As of September 19, the occupiers were still present at the aggregate plant, and the Russian control over it was confirmed on September 17 by the spokesman for the Kharkiv Brigade Vitaliy Sarantsev.

The 13th Brigade "Charter" reported that the occupiers in the Kharkiv direction mostly switched to defense after heavy losses. They are being reinforced by "ex-Wagnerians" and "volunteers" recruited in Russian prisons.
