DIU explained what is behind Putin's narratives about ending the war
The narrative that the president of the aggressor country, Russia, Vladimir Putin, allegedly wants to end the war with Ukraine is aimed at two audiences at the same time: internal and external. First, the occupiers want to "justify" the state of their country's economy to the Russians.
And second, this narrative is aimed at splitting Ukrainian society and the pro-Ukrainian international coalition. Andrii Yusov, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, said this on Tuesday, December 26, on the air of the national United News TV marathon.
"These statements will be directed at Ukraine in order to try to continue to demotivate and split the society, just as they will try to split the international coalition. But it will not work," he emphasized.
According to Yusov, in addition to possible non-public signals, there are similar public narratives from Russian "experts," politicians and other figures associated with the Kremlin regime.
"As for the other signs, the best one is the state of the Russian economy and the forecasts of their economic development: no matter what they tell the zombified Russian population, things are far from perfect there, and the prospect is only getting worse. The Kremlin also understands this and is taking appropriate measures against its geopolitical adventures," the DIU representative added.
The New York Times recently wrote that Putin has been sending signals to the West through intermediaries about his interest in a ceasefire in Ukraine, which would include freezing the current front line at least since September.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, said that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is not going to stop the full-scale war anytime soon. Therefore, the diplomat called on the world to provide as much military support to Ukraine as possible.
