Czech Republic and Denmark to supply Ukraine with battle tanks and IFVs: what is included in the new aid package

The Czech Ministry of Defense plays the role of an intermediary in this project

The Czech Republic and Denmark will jointly supply Ukraine with heavy military equipment in the coming months. The new aid package will include armored personnel carriers, battle tanks, and other equipment, both newly manufactured and from warehouses.

This was reported by the Czech Ministry of Defense. The list was created based on the requirements and needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As part of the first part of the project, Denmark and the Czech Republic will supply nearly 50 infantry fighting vehicles and main battle tanks, 2,500 pistols, 7,000 rifles, 500 handguns and 500 sniper rifles, electronic warfare and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance equipment, newly manufactured and from Czech companies' warehouses.

Denmark and the Czech Republic also plan to provide Ukraine with 500 large-caliber machine guns, 280 self-loading guns, 7,000 anti-tank weapons, 10,000 hand grenades, 60 mortar systems, and much more in the future. The delivery will also include a significant number of anti-drone systems.

Czech Deputy Defense Minister Daniel Blažkovec explained that the Czech Ministry of Defense plays the role of an intermediary in this project.

"There are several defense industry companies on our territory with which we, as the Ministry of Defense, have long-term relations, and therefore we can connect them with those who, like us, want to help Ukrainians. In this case, it is the Danish government," he said.

Thanks to this form of cooperation, it will be possible to continue military assistance to Ukraine not only in the coming months but also in 2024, and, if necessary, in the long term.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian military will receive six more new launchers for Hawk air defense systems from Spain. The country will also provide us with 155-mm and 105-mm artillery shells and heavy machine guns, and train 4,000 Ukrainian defenders.

As a reminder, at a briefing in Brussels after the 16th Ramstein meeting, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that the United States would lead a coalition of countries that help Ukraine develop its own Air Force. Together with the United States, this coalition will be led by Denmark and the Netherlands.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense "Ramstein" was held in Brussels on October 11. The allies announced new aid packages for Kyiv.
