"Cyclone" missile carrier sank: satellite photos of Sevastopol bay after Ukrainian strikes published
Satellite images of Kuryacha Bay in Sevastopol, where the small missile ship "Cyclone" was destroyed, have been published online. It shows, in particular, the destruction and crater from a missile launched by the Defense Forces on the night of May 19.
The image of May 23 was published on the Telegram channel of "Radio Liberty". The message reminded that analysts of the Conflict Intelligence Team investigation group had received a photo from a source in Sevastopol confirming that the ship had indeed sunk – only its mast was visible from the water, and a rescue boat was standing nearby.
As a reminder, on the night of May 19, the Ukrainian Defense Forces hit the "Cyclone" missile ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet's 22800 project in Sevastopol. The ship was probably hit with ATACMS missiles. The attack killed six Russian Black Sea Fleet servicemen and wounded 11 others. The ship itself sank.
The spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, Dmytro Pletenchuk, said that the corvette did not even manage to pass state tests because it never launched a single cruise missile.
Currently, Russia has 10 more surface-to-air missile launchers in the Black Sea. Taking their total number into account, they can simultaneously launch "a little more than 50 Kalibr missiles. But in reality, this is unlikely, and "such a practice has never been used," Pletenchuk added.
