About 5,000 nuclear workers have been relocated from the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which has been occupied by Russian terrorists since March 2022, to the territory controlled by Ukraine. These are qualified specialists who are to be used to complete the completion of Khmelnytskyi NPP units.

This was announced by Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko during an hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada. He emphasized that all the expatriated specialists work at Energoatom.

"As of today, we have evacuated about 5 thousand people from Zaporizhzhia NPP. They all work for Energoatom, and this is exactly the personnel we plan to use to complete the construction of Khmelnytskyi NPP units," Halushchenko said.

The minister reminded that since February 2024, the Russian occupiers have banned access to the plant for those employees who remained in the occupied territory. According to Halushchenko, all of them continue to receive salaries that are accumulated in their accounts.

As a reminder, ZNPP has been under Russian occupation since March 4, 2022. During this time, Russian terrorists have repeatedly violated the principles of nuclear safety by deploying military equipment on the territory of the plant, mining the territory, and terrorizing the plant personnel.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

There are no Ukrainian licensed experts on the safe start-up of reactors at the occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. This could pose a serious safety threat and cause a possible nuclear incident.

Meanwhile, the Russian Armed Forces are using kamikaze drones directly over the nuclear reactors of ZNPP. The occupiers are hiding behind the plant to conduct shelling.
