Zelenskyy has renewed the NSDC and Supreme: what changes have taken place

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made changes to the National Security and Defense Council and the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Office. These changes are related to recent high-profile dismissals and new appointments in the government and leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to Decree No. 67/2024 of February 9, Zelenskyy appointed Oleksandr Syrskyi, the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to the staff of the Chief of Staff. At the same time, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, who was dismissed by the President on February 8, was removed from the Staff.

And according to Decree 68/2024 of February 9, Zelenskyy appointed Syrskyy to the National Security and Defense Council.

The dismissed Minister of Veterans' Affairs Yulia Laputina was removed from the body.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on February 8, Zelenskyy dismissed Zaluzhny from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and appointed Commander Syrskyi in his place. The President thanked the "iron general" for two years of defense of the Fatherland and said that he had offered him to stay in the team.

At the same time, he said that 2024 could be a successful year for Ukraine only if there are effective changes in the defense sector.

Zelenskyy also voiced his expectations for the new commander-in-chief: the development of a detailed plan for 2024, a fair redistribution of Western weapons between brigades, solving logistical problems, knowledge of the front by each general, a review of the number of staffs, an effective rotation system, trained soldiers on the contact line, and the appointment of a commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces.

The President awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to the dismissed Zaluzhnyi.

Syrskyi has already made his first statement as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. In particular, he assured that the lives of Ukrainian soldiers were and are the main value.
