"We must not forget cynical politics": Ohryzko calls to remember great "peacemakers"

Vladimir Putin, Narendra Modi and Xi Jinping

During the BRICS summit in Russia, Indian Prime Minister Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping called for an end to the escalation in Ukraine and the start of negotiations. However, these calls are clearly hypocritical diplomacy, as cynical actions are being taken in reality.

This was stated in an exclusive interview with OBOZ.UA by former Foreign Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Ohryzko. He emphasized that Ukraine should be aware of the cynical policies pursued by some major countries in the context of the war in Ukraine.

Mr. Ohryzko noted that after the victory, Ukraine should remember the great "peacekeepers" and this should influence our foreign policy towards them, even despite possible economic interests.

"The hypocrisy is obvious, and we shouldn't expect anything out of the ordinary here. The right words are said publicly, but in practice, cynical, shameful things are done. This is what we are witnessing and what we must not forget. Because the war will end, victory will be ours, Russia will be defeated, and then we will ask our dear, respected partners very carefully why they took such a shameful position. And we will see what we hear in response. But at the very least, we must not forget this cynical policy that some large countries are pursuing. This is what should determine our policy towards them, despite, perhaps, even some economic interests," Ohryzko emphasized.

As a reminder, the BRICS summit was attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, and leaders of Iran, Egypt, the UAE, and Ethiopia. Each of them had their own interest, primarily financial. However, as soon as the Ukrainian Defense Forces put an end to the battlefield and expel the Russian army from its territory, according to former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko, they will all "repaint" themselves.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, ISW noted that the adoption of the declaration on the second day of the BRICS summit in Kazan demonstrated that Russia has not yet secured international support and created an alternative security structure, which the Kremlin so desires.
