"We have agreed with our partners": Zelensky says Ukraine will receive ships to escort 'grain corridor'

Partner countries will provide Ukraine with warships to ensure the safety of ships in the "grain corridor" in the Black Sea. Odesa region will also be protected by additional air defense systems.

This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at the Grain from Ukraine conference in Kyiv. He called the creation and operation of the "grain corridor" one of the biggest achievements of the year.

"We have agreed with our partners and will accompany the ships at sea to ensure their safety," Zelensky explained.

According to him, there are already specific agreements on receiving ships, and this is a matter of the near future.

In addition, there are already agreements on additional "very specific air defense systems" to protect Odesa region.

"A very specific request has already been sent by our partners, and I can say that it has already been agreed. Soon this region will be protected by very powerful air defense. Not only ships are important to us, but also the people who live there," Zelensky emphasized.

To recap, the day before, Canada announced a new aid package for the Ukrainian army. It includes 11,000 assault rifles and more than 9 million rounds of ammunition produced by the Canadian company Colt Canada.

- In the Czech Republic and Slovakia, 400 thousand euros were raised in a week for a Black Hawk helicopter for the DIU soldiers. The total cost of the aircraft is about 4.3 million euros. As soon as the required amount is raised, the Black Hawk will be delivered to Ukrainian intelligence officers.

- The Finnish government proposed to the parliament to amend the draft state budget for 2024. It is planned to increase funds to help Ukraine, which is fighting Russia's invasion.
