"We have a powerful force": Trump reiterates that he can stop the war in Ukraine at a moment's notice
US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has once again repeated one of the most popular messages of his campaign that he can "instantly stop the war in Ukraine." According to him, to do so, he would need to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
At the same time, Trump did not say what exactly he would discuss with the Ukrainian president and the Russian dictator. The US presidential candidate said this in an interview with TV host Joe Rogan.
The Republican candidate said that during his term in the White House, he "did not allow" Putin to invade Ukraine. In particular, he emphasized that the decisive factor was the threat to reduce the price of oil to $40 per barrel.
"I told them: 'Vladimir, you are not coming in'. I talked to him often. You are not coming in. I can't tell you what I told him because it would be unacceptable. Someday I will tell... but he would never come in... Why else would he not go for it? The oil price of 40 dollars a barrel would not allow him, and would not give him the money to support this war. We would not have given them the money," Trump said.
The politician noted that he had a similar conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping about Taiwan. According to him, after his presidential term ended, Chinese troops launched dozens of bombers over Taiwan.
At the same time, Trump said that Putin decided to launch a full-scale invasion of Ukraine allegedly because he does not respect US President Joe Biden.
"I told the president... I was with the president... It was the same conversation with Vladimir in Moscow and with President Xi in Beijing. Almost the same conversation. I said: don't do this... They would not do it... The day I left (the White House – ed.), they launched 28 bombers over Taiwan. This (Taiwan – ed.) is like the apple of China's eye. And Ukraine is the apple of their eye... I had a very good relationship with him. He would not have done this. He would never do that. But he wouldn't have done it either, because... You know, one of the reasons why what happened happened. Number one, he doesn't respect Biden at all. He doesn't respect Biden at all. And who the hell would," Trump said in the interview.
According to Trump, ending the war in Ukraine is a simple matter. At the same time, he called Russia a "fat war machine," reiterating that under his presidency, Putin would not have started a full-scale war.
"For me, this is a simple question because I can do it easily. But it's a complicated question in the sense that time is changing, something is changing every day... who is winning, who is not winning... Russia is a military machine, like it or not. It just keeps rolling and rolling. Talk to people like Viktor Orban, he will say that it is just a big fat military machine. And that is what is happening. You look at what happened to Ukraine... If I had been there (in the White House – ed.), this would never have happened," Trump added.
The Republican emphasized that to stop the war immediately, he would need to meet with Putin and Zelenskyy. However, he did not specify what would be discussed during these meetings. At the same time, Trump noted that if you know how to use the power and might of the United States, a quick end to the war is quite possible.
"Right now, you take them both, I know them both very well, and... I don't want to tell you (what I would do – ed.) for the sake of sounding smart, for people to say 'Oh, he was great'... it's just that if I say specifically what I would do, I can't make a deal. All I can say is that I would meet with Putin, and I would meet with him (Zelenskyy – ed.). And I know exactly what I will say to each of them, and I believe that as the elected president, I will stop that war. I will stop it quickly. We have a powerful force in the United States if you know how to use power," Trump summarized.
As a reminder, Ukrainian political analyst Volodymyr Fesenko believes that US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump cannot be unequivocally called a friend of Vladimir Putin. In his opinion, when Trump was heading America, the United States' relations with the Russian Federation even deteriorated.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, as of October 20, Donald Trump overtook Kamala Harris in the pre-election poll for the first time in the fall. His chances of winning were estimated at 52%, while Harris' chances were 48%.
