"We are already going there": Budanov says it will be easier to liberate Crimea or Donbas

From a military point of view, it is much easier to liberate Crimea than Donbas. The enemy can be driven out of the peninsula through two key points.

This was stated by the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov, answering questions from graduates of the Kyiv School of Economics. Forbes Ukraine published the Chief Intelligence Officer's remarks from a closed meeting with KSE graduates.

Budanov emphasized that the Russians' favorite "parable" about "impregnable Crimea" has nothing to do with reality.

"There are two entry points to Crimea - from the Russian side and from ours: The Crimean bridge and the land isthmus. The issue of recapture is our frontline operations: from the Russian side by destroying communications, from our side by applying pressure. And then that's it - Crimea is isolated," Budanov said.

The head of the DIU turned to history. He reminded that Crimea was conquered several times during many military conflicts. And the states that sought to take possession of the peninsula usually achieved this goal. But they failed to keep it.

According to Budanov, the main problem of any aggressor whose troops were in Crimea has always been the inability to hold the Perekop Isthmus. And its loss immediately led to the rapid collapse of the invader's defense, followed by its expulsion from the peninsula.

"When I say that we will enter Crimea, we are already there," Budanov summarized his answer.

At a meeting with KSE master's graduates, Budanov also assured that "the war will definitely end" because "this is a natural process. But after that, Ukrainians will face other tasks that are no less important and difficult.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, according to the forecasts of the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kirill Budanov, Russia's offensive in eastern Ukraine should decline in a month and a half to two months. He noted that the Ukrainian Defense Forces will not wait all this time, but will influence the further situation by acting proactively.
