Ukrainian defense forces have recently advanced southeast of Sudzha amid ongoing fighting in Russia's Kursk region. The defenders have also made progress in the Kharkiv sector.

This is stated in the report of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) for February 9. It once again listed the units of the Russian army that are confronting the Ukrainian army in Kursk region.

According to analysts, who refer to geolocation footage, within the Kharkiv sector, Ukrainian troops advanced near Vovchansk at the same time as the occupiers were attacking the city on February 8 and 9.

Russian pro-war bloggers did not comment on these battles but stated that sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the Russian Armed Forces are currently operating in the same area, namely in the vicinity of Lyptsi.

In the Kursk region, the Ukrainian armed forces launched mechanized attacks southeast of Sudzha in the area of Ruska Konopelka and Fanaseevka.

Geolocation footage posted on February 9 shows Ukrainian forces moving forward along the 38K-028 Sudzha-Oboyan road southwest of Ruska Konopelka.

Against this backdrop, Russian bloggers continued to make contradictory statements about the situation in Cherkaska Konopelka and Fanaseevka (both southeast of Sudzha). Some claimed that the Russian Armed Forces had partially or completely pushed Ukrainian troops back from the area, while others complained that the Russian army had not actually been able to advance during attacks in the area.

Units of the Chechen special forces "Akhmat" are reportedly operating near Cherkaska Konopelka and Ulanka, and units of the Russian 11th Airborne Brigade are operating southeast of Suzha. Also in Kursk region, the Russian military command has engaged UAV operators from the Smuglyanka detachment, the Rubicon Center for Advanced Unmanned Technologies, and the 155th Separate Marine Brigade (Pacific Fleet), units of the 83rd Airborne Forces Brigade, the 34th Motorized Rifle Brigade, and the Anvar Special Forces unit.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, according to Forbes, the mechanized units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine took advantage of the operational pause of Russian and North Korean troops, advancing almost 5 km to the village of Fanaseevka in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. They successfully used tactics that had previously brought results to the occupiers, but with their own unique approach.
