Ukrainian soldiers drove the Russian occupiers out of Kotlyne, Donetsk region. There, the enemy was amassing forces to further reach the Pokrovsk – Dnipro highway to complicate the logistics of the Defense Forces in the entire Pokrovsk sector.
However, thanks to the paratroopers of the 25th separate airborne Sicheslav brigade and related units of the Armed Forces, the enemy's intentions were not realized. The details of the liberation of the settlement were disclosed by the Air Assault Troops.
"In the course of the assault and recovery operations, paratroopers of the 25th separate airborne brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine cleared the village of Kotlyne near Pokrovsk. The occupation of this settlement would allow the occupiers to reach the Pokrovsk – Dnipro highway, so the enemy sent significant forces to capture it," the Air Assault Forces noted.
The Russians managed to enter the village in early January this year. At the end of the month, the paratroopers launched an operation to liberate Kotlyne, and on February 26, they reported the complete clearing of the village.
"Sicheslav paratroopers and related units did not allow the Russians to gain a foothold in Kotlyne and drove the occupiers out of the village," the Ukrainian military added.
As a reminder, on February 16, the Khortytsia military unit said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated the village of Pishchane in the Pokrovsk sector. The invaders were also pushed back from nearby settlements.
Ukrainian soldiers achieved success as a result of a series of effective counterattacks.
