Ukrainian Armed Forces seize initiative in Kupyansk sector: Ministry of Defence reports on situation at the frontlines. Video

The defence forces have the initiative in the Kupyansk direction. Attempts by Russian troops to launch an offensive in the area have so far failed.

This was reported by Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Maliar on Telegram. She also noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have the initiative on the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions.

"The enemy's offensive in the Kupyansk sector has been unsuccessful so far. The fighting continues, but the initiative is already on our side," she wrote.

Maliar noted that today our troops continued to advance on the southern flank around Bakhmut, as in previous days.

According to the information provided by Maliar, fighting broke out on the northern flank today, where Russian troops are trying to regain lost ground. Ukrainian soldiers are facing densely mined terrain and intense enemy fire.

"Offensive actions continue at the Berdiansk and Melitopol directions. Our defenders have been successful in the areas of Mala Tokmachka-Novopokrovka and Velyka Novosilka-Urozhayne, and are consolidating their positions. The initiative is on our side," she added.

Hanna Maliar noted that the enemy's task is to stop the advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"That is why our troops have to move in an extremely difficult situation. In addition, it is necessary to create certain conditions for further advancement. And this takes time. Remember the liberation of Kherson - it also took more than one day," added the Deputy Minister of Defence.

For two days in a row, the occupiers have been actively advancing in the Kupyansk direction in the Kharkiv region. Ukrainian defenders are on the defensive.
