Ukrainian Armed Forces repel enemy attacks in all sectors: the General Staff names the hottest areas in the frontline

As of 16:00 on Thursday, January 9, 101 combat engagements took place in the frontline since the beginning of the day. The situation is the most intense in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove sectors, as well as in the Kursk region.

Ukrainian defenders are stopping the enemy, holding the line, and destroying the occupiers' plans. This is stated in the operational summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As noted, Russian troops are focusing their efforts on the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions.

Russian artillery shelling affected the border areas of Ukrainian settlements, including Oleksandrivka, Velyka Pysarivka, Turya in the Sumy region, and Tymofiivka in the Kharkiv region. In addition, the enemy attacked Oleksandrivka with unguided aerial missiles.

The situation on the frontline on January 9

In the Kharkiv sector, the Defense Forces repelled one attack near Starytsia.

In the Kupiansk sector, the enemy attempted to advance five times during the day in the areas of Zakhidne, Kucherivka, Petropavlivka, and Zahryzove.

In the Lyman sector, the aggressor also increased the number of attacks to 12. With the support of aviation, it attacked near the settlements of Zelenyi Hai, Borivska Andriivka, Kopanky, Tverdokhlibove, Makiivka, Hrekivka, and Ivanivka. As of 4 p.m., nine firefights are ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk sector, our defenders repelled three attacks in the area of Chasiv Yar. Another one is underway near Bila Hora. The enemy dropped two unmanned aerial vehicles on Maiske, the report says.

In the Toretsk sector, the enemy tried to advance nine times in the areas of Toretsk and Shcherbynivka. Six battles are currently underway. The enemy dropped two aerial bombs on Kostiantynivka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the enemy started clashes of varying intensity 31 times. Defense forces repelled 20 enemy attacks in the areas of Baranivka, Myroliubivka, Yelizavetivka, Promin, Lysivka, Zelene, Zvirove, Novyi Trud, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Uspenivka, Novovasylivka, and Novoyelyzavetivka. Currently, 11 other battles are still ongoing.

Fierce fighting continues in the Kurakhove sector, the General Staff informs. Ukrainian troops repelled 16 enemy attacks near Sribne, Andriivka, Petropavlivka, Kurakhove, and Dachne over the day, and four more battles are ongoing.

In the Vremivsk sector, the aggressor attacked the positions of the Defense Forces seven times near Yantarne, Kostiantynopil, and Rozlyv, one firefight is still ongoing. Temyrivka and Velyka Novosilka were attacked by Ukrainian military aircraft.

In the Prydniprovsk sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled one enemy attack near Kozatskyi Island. The enemy dropped four UAVs on Kherson.

In the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 enemy attacks, five are still ongoing. In addition, the enemy made 143 artillery attacks, including one from multiple rocket launchers.

The enemy did not conduct active operations in the Siversk, Hulyaypillia, and Orikhiv sectors, the General Staff said.

There were no significant changes in the situation in other areas.

Ukrainian troops are depleting the enemy along the entire front line and in the rear, the report says.
