Ukrainian Armed Forces liberate Pishchane village in the Pokrovsk sector - Khortytsia OSG

Defense forces recently conducted a series of counterattacks in the Pokrovsk sector. As a result, Ukrainian soldiers managed to liberate the village of Pishchane, south of Pokrovsk, from the Russian occupiers.

The invaders were also pushed back from nearby settlements. This was stated by Viktor Tregubov, spokesman for the Khortytsia operational and strategic group of troops, on Kyiv 24 TV channel.

Tregubov announced the liberation of the previously Russian-occupied village of Pishchane, south of Pokrovsk. This happened as a result of a series of successful counterattacks.

"A number of counterattacks by Ukrainian forces had some success. This, in particular, has already been reported and we can already talk about the liberation of Pishchane village. It is about five kilometers south of Pokrovsk. Russian troops were also pushed out of some other nearby settlements," emphasized the Khortytsia spokesman.

Tregubov added that the Ukrainian military is in no hurry to make statements about their successes, given the volatile situation on the battlefield. However, there are grounds to say that there is a certain turnaround in the situation.

"We usually don't like to talk about such things, simply because the situation is changeable. And it happens that you say something and the situation changes the next day. But it seems that it is in the Pokrovsk direction that we can very cautiously say that there is a certain turnaround. This can already be said with reference to the president," he said.

According to the Khortytsia spokesman, the victory and coordinated interaction of Ukrainian soldiers thwarted Russia's plans to bypass Pokrovsk from the south and significantly thinned the enemy's ranks.

"Russia had very serious intentions to semi-encircle the city of Pokrovsk. However, they suffered very serious losses in this area over the past month and this month they were also, let's say, suspended and even rejected in some localities. First of all, due to the effective operation of drones, due to the effective cooperation of various Ukrainian units and the establishment of effective interaction between them," Tregubov summarized.

He did not specify when exactly the Russians were driven out of Pishchane. However, DeepState maps show the village as controlled by the Defense Forces after the maps were updated on the night of February 10.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the situation in the Pokrovske direction had improved. Speaking to journalists in Munich, he emphasized that Ukrainian positions there are now "more confident than they were."
