Ukrainian Armed Forces' Kursk operation may end earlier: general names new circumstance

Russia may engage North Korean military personnel to drive the Armed Forces of Ukraine out of the Kursk region. To accomplish this task, a group of 80,000 or more troops is needed.

This opinion was expressed in an exclusive interview with OBOZ.UA by the former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Ihor Romanenko.

"North Korean military personnel are trained in four centers in Russia and will continue to be involved. At least in the Kursk region," he said.

According to the general's estimates, Russia has assembled a grouping of about 55,000 troops in the Kursk region. "According to Western experts, a grouping of 80-120 thousand will allow them to push our troops to the border," he said.

Romanenko stated that the supply of the Ukrainian group in the Kursk region is insufficient. There is a lack of weapons and equipment, as well as personnel. "If the supply of our troops does not change, unfortunately, the enemy can achieve this," he warned.

The general also said that the reaction of Western allies to the constant changes in the situation at the front is delayed, which leads to losses on the Ukrainian side.

"The West's reaction is after the fact. And the winner in a war is the one who acts proactively. These are objective laws of war that are ignored by many of our allies, including the United States, with all the consequences for us. For us, it results in losses of our people, our military, first of all," he summarized.
