France has confirmed the transfer of the latest French 5th generation Akeron MP anti-tank missile systems to Ukraine. They operate on a "fire and forget" principle, with the operator being able to change the target during the missile's flight, and the ATGM can also hit targets hidden behind obstacles.

France has not previously announced its intention to transfer the Akeron MP ATGM to Ukraine. The transfer of anti-tank weapons was reported by the Militarny portal.

The fact that Ukraine has finally received the latest Akeron MP anti-tank missile systems was announced by French MP Lionel Royer-Perrault during a hearing on military support. The delivery had not been announced before.

Ukraine received the aforementioned ATGMs along with other French-made weapons.

"Mistral, 30 CAESAR guns and 6 TRF1 guns of 155 mm caliber, 2 LRU MLRS, Akeron missiles, Crotale systems and VAB armored personnel carriers," Rouay-Perrault listed.

The Missile Moyenne Porte anti-tank system, also known as MMP or Akeron MP, is a lightweight multi-purpose missile capable of hitting targets at a distance of 15 to more than 4,000 meters. The 1.3-meter-long system weighs only 15 kg, and several operators are sufficient to operate it. The Akeron MP launcher can also be mounted on a vehicle.

The missile is capable of penetrating homogeneous armor up to 1000 mm and a layer of concrete up to 2000 mm.

Akeron MP works on a "fire and forget" basis. The operator does not need to guide the missile to the target with a laser beam throughout its flight: it is enough to capture the target and fire.

Among the features of the system is the ability to use it with an optoelectronic guidance station. This allows the missile to be launched even before a specific target is selected. The operator, tracking the image transmitted from the homing head, will be able to change the target during the flight or interrupt the firing process altogether if necessary.

The Akeron MP is able to hit targets behind obstacles and attack tanks from above, as the Javelin does.

The tandem warhead of the anti-tank missile, which is specially designed to destroy armored vehicles with dynamic protection, allows it to effectively destroy not only tanks but also enemy infantry and boats.

At the same time, Akeron MP is characterized by reduced recoil and can be launched from enclosed spaces.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine will soon receive the 3rd Patriot division . These American-made systems are capable of hitting ballistic targets.

It was also reported that a German arms concern will produce 100,000 artillery mines for Ukraine . The shells for 120-mm mortars are part of a recent €400 million military aid package to the Ukrainian army. Deliveries are due to begin shortly and will continue over the next two years.
