Ukrainian Air Force commander Mykola Oleshchuk addressed Ukrainians on Independence Day. The lieutenant general said that true independence does not come easily.
Oleshchuk emphasized that there are many examples in world history of enslaved peoples fighting for the desire to live freely. He wrote about this on his Telegram.
According to him, the Ukrainian people have always fought against empires that encroach on our holy land for hundreds of years with arms in their hands. He also noted that it is now up to Ukrainians to determine what kind of country their children and grandchildren will inherit.
"Independence means freedom, the right to choose, cultural values, the right to live in your own home on your own land. True independence does not come easily. There are many examples in world history of enslaved peoples fighting for the eternal desire to live in freedom! The Ukrainian people have always fought against empires that encroach on our holy land. For hundreds of years, with arms in hand, with a hot heart! We are fighting even now, and we are not alone. Our struggle for independence is supported by the entire civilized world, but it is up to us to decide what kind of Ukraine we will leave to our children and grandchildren," Oleshchuk wrote.
The lieutenant general also showed a photo of a guided bomb that will reach the Russian occupiers who are trying to take away the independence of our country.
"Today this French bomb will once again hit the heads of the occupiers on my behalf. It will fight for our future, for our land, for our freedom, for independence!" Oleshchuk said.
As a reminder, US President Joe Biden congratulated Ukraine on Independence Day. The American leader assured that Ukraine will remain free.
As repoted, the National Police warned of a high probability of Russian massive missile attacks on the Independence Day of Ukraine. All units of the agency are ready to provide enhanced security measures under martial law
According to a KIIS poll, the vast majority of Ukrainians support Ukraine's independence as of 2024. The number of our compatriots who favor unification with Russia has fallen to record lows and is less than half a percent.
