Transnistria will not ask Putin to become part of Russia at the upcoming February 28 congress, it is a fake - DIU

The separatists of Moldovan Transnistria will not ask to join Russia in the near future. According to previously circulated information, such an appeal to Moscow would allegedly be adopted on February 28.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine called this information a fake. This is said in an official statement of the military intelligence.

The DIU stated that the previously spread information about the intentions of the "deputies" of the pro-Russian enclave in Moldova - the so-called Transnistrian Moldovan Republic - is not true.

"The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine informs: according to available information, on February 28, 2024, the deputies of the unrecognized Transnistria do not plan to address Russian dictator Putin with a request to join the Russian Federation," the intelligence noted.

Moscow need such rumors to destabilize the situation in the region. The DIU sees all signs that this false information is being spread deliberately as part of Russia's disinformation campaign.
