"This is exactly the kind of specificity and predictability." Ukraine and Latvia sign security agreement

Riga will provide military assistance worth 0.25% of GDP annually

On April 11, Ukraine and Latvia signed a bilateral security agreement. As part of the agreement, Riga will provide Kyiv with military assistance worth 0.25% of GDP annually, as well as help with demining, unmanned technologies, cyber defense support, and NATO membership.

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. "Together with the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, we have just signed a bilateral security agreement between our countries," he wrote on his official Telegram channel.

According to the Ukrainian president, Latvia will provide military assistance to Kyiv worth 0.25% of its GDP annually.

In addition, Riga is making a 10-year commitment to support Ukraine in cyber defense, demining, unmanned technologies, and unconditionally facilitates Ukraine's accession to the EU and NATO.

"I am grateful to friendly Latvia! This is exactly the specificity and predictability that our struggle for freedom and independence needs," Zelenskyy said.

The President noted that this year Latvia would provide Ukraine with military support worth about 112 million euros.

"Latvia will also help with the restoration and reconstruction, protection of critical infrastructure, demining, unmanned technologies, and cybersecurity. We appreciate such important assistance for our country and our people!" Zelenskyy added.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on April 11, Zelenskyy arrived in Lithuania to participate in the Three Seas Summit. There, he is scheduled to hold talks on strengthening Ukrainian air defense, meeting the urgent needs of the Ukrainian army, and consolidating international support for our country.

Last week, Latvia announced a comprehensive aid package for Ukraine for 2024. The country will allocate almost EUR 10 million to rebuild the country and support the Ukrainian army.
