"They are already on our territory": Zelenskyy reports intelligence data on the number of DPRK troops in the war with Ukraine
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the aggressor state of Russia is already using DPRK troops on Ukrainian territory. According to him, at least 3,000 soldiers from North Korea are already operating in Russia and Ukraine.
The President said this during a press conference with participants of the fourth Ukraine-Northern Europe Summit in Reykjavik on Monday, October 28. According to Ukrainian intelligence, Zelenskyy said, Russia will soon have more than 12,000 North Korean soldiers.
"North Korean soldiers and officers are already on the territory of Russia, they are already being used on our territory. Three thousand North Korean soldiers. We believe that the information from our intelligence is true, and soon they will have 12,000. This should happen soon enough," he said.
In addition, Pyongyang provides Moscow with military assistance, including artillery shells and missiles. According to the president, we are talking about 3.5 million pieces of ammunition.
"We have the fragments of these missiles for those partners who did not believe in it," Zelenskyy said.
He also reminded that Iran and China also cooperate with Russia in the military sphere. Tehran is providing strike UAVs and has even licensed the production of Shaheds for Russia. In addition, the countries are negotiating the transfer of missiles to the Russian occupiers.
"They are engaged in an in-depth dialog about missiles that Iran can provide to Russia. Then there is China. I think this is a pretty big problem because they don't support us. I think that they are working with Russia... They are going deeper and deeper down this path," Zelenskyy emphasized.
The day before, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte confirmed that military units from North Korea had been deployed in the Kursk region of Russia. He called it "a serious step that underscores the DPRK's continued involvement in supporting Russia in its military operations."
The Financial Times also reported earlier that North Korean troops could be sent to the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. They assume that Putin is betting that the DPRK forces will take back part of the region, which is currently controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the Pentagon said that Ukraine would not face any new restrictions on the use of Western weapons if DPRK soldiers take part in hostilities.
