Rescue operation continues at the site of Shahed hit in Odesa

There may be children under the rubble of a high-rise building in Odesa that was destroyed by a Russian kamikaze drone on the night of March 2. The rescue and search operation is ongoing.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. He spoke about the situation at the site of another Russian war crime.

The Head of State noted that rescuers, police and public utilities had been working at the site of the destroyed high-rise building for the second day in a row.

"A total of 215 people are involved. I am grateful to every volunteer who helps," the President emphasized.

Zelensky reminded that as of 2 p.m. on March 3, ten people had died, including three children.

"Mark, who is not even three years old yet, Elizabeth, eight months old, and Timothy, four months old. Ukrainian children are Russia's military targets. That's who these non-humans are fighting. My condolences to all the families and friends," the Head of State noted.

He assured that all victims are being provided with the necessary assistance. However, he added that the number of victims of Russia's crime may not be final.

"Five people were rescued. We know that there may still be children under the rubble. The search operations will continue until the fate of everyone who was in the house is clarified," Zelensky emphasized.

He once again thanked everyone who is clearing the rubble and helping the victims physically and psychologically.

"I thank everyone who is involved in the rescue operation, who supports people, who helps the wounded. And I thank each and every one who is destroying the occupiers, Russian equipment and logistics. Every Russian loss at the front is our country's response to Russian terror. The world must respond to every manifestation of Russian evil and repel Russia's actions. Every Russian terrorist act ignored by the world allows Russia to continue killing. We must win this war. Only Ukrainian power will be able to provide Ukrainians with a normal life," the President summarized.

On the night of March 2, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 17 drones. Air defense forces shot down 14 of them.

In Odesa, a Shahed hit a residential high-rise building and destroyed the entire entrance. As of 9 a.m., at least ten people were reported dead.

Among the victims are three children: boys aged 3 and 4 months, and an 8-month-old girl. In particular, a 4-month-old baby died with his mother. A three-year-old boy was killed with his father, and the child's mother was hospitalized in intensive care in serious condition. Another mother and child were found under the rubble on the morning of March 3.
