"There are no changes": Germany explains why it did not allow Ukraine to strike anywhere in Russia

Germany has authorized Ukraine to use the weapons it has provided to strike at Russian military targets located only on the territory of the Russian Federation adjacent to the Kharkiv region. The range of the German weapons does not allow for an extension of this permission, so there are no changes to the restriction from Berlin.

This was stated by German Federal Government spokesman Steffen Gebestreit at a briefing on Monday, June 24. "As for German weapons, their range is much shorter than the range of American weapons. So, there are no changes on the part of Berlin. We are talking very specifically about the territories bordering Ukraine, about the border.... German weapons cannot be compared to American weapons because the range cannot be compared," the spokesman said.

As you know, initially Germany did not allow the use of the weapons it supplied for strikes on Russian territory at all.

Gebestreit reminded that the "adjustment" of the conditions for the use of weapons occurred because Russia is shelling the large city of Kharkiv and the entire region from Russian territory.

The spokesman added that Berlin took into account the Pentagon's information that Ukraine could use weapons provided by the United States to strike at Russian troops anywhere in the Russian Federation, not just near the Kharkiv region.
