"There are all the possibilities now": Zelensky makes a loud statement about ending the war in 2025. Video
President Volodymyr Zelensky said that ending the war in Ukraine in 2025 is possible. According to the head of state, in order to achieve peace, it is necessary to strengthen sanctions and provide security guarantees to Ukrainians.
Zelensky made this statement in an interview with the British broadcaster ITV News. "We want this (ending the war in Ukraine - Ed.) very much. And every year, to be honest, we really wanted our Western partners to have the strength to force Putin to end the war," he said.
The President added that now there is every opportunity to end Russia's full-scale aggression.
In addition, US President Donald Trump also wants a quick end to the war.
"I believe that there is every opportunity for this today. In my opinion, Trump wants a quick end to the war. Quick or not, we don't know how it will work out, but we know that we need to be strong. He is strong, but we need to act decisively in alliance with the Europeans," Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian leader also pointed out that sanctions have a negative impact on the economy of the aggressor country, but it has had time to adapt.
"Because there has always been a "gap" - banking sanctions are imposed, but not on all banks, on agriculture, but the shadow fleet is working. Now sanctions have been imposed on the shadow fleet. But again, not all ships, not the entire fleet. There is still room for improvement. We are talking about hundreds of ships that need to be sanctioned. And on the captains, on the crews, on all the people involved," Zelensky explained.
According to him, sanctions should be total to increase pressure on Moscow.
Zelensky also emphasized the need to provide security guarantees for Ukraine to reassure the Ukrainian people and called for economic recovery and the return of people.
"We need our people, eight million of them, to return," he said.
At the same time, the Head of State said that today there is no longer a conversation about justice for Ukraine, it is about ending the hot stage of the war.
"A fair and genuine peace is important for us, but let's take some steps. Security guarantees - then we can talk about stopping the hot stage of the war. Support for our army - then we can guarantee that tomorrow we will not be left alone. Then we can talk about the third, fourth, and fifth points," the Head of State summarized.
