The United States has predicted the duration of the war in Ukraine and explained what Putin is betting on

US intelligence gives a forecast on the duration of the war in Ukraine

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin perceives domestic and international circumstances as developing in his favor. He is likely to continue to pursue an aggressive strategy in Ukraine, and the prospects for ending the war in the near future are unlikely.

Director of National Intelligence Avril Gaines said this during a hearing in Congress on May 2, Radio Liberty reports. Through its aggressive tactics, the enemy is trying to convince Ukraine that continuing the struggle will only increase the damage to it.

"Putin's increasingly aggressive tactics against Ukraine, including strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, are aimed at convincing Ukraine that continuing the fight will only increase the damage to it and offer no credible path to victory," Gaines said.

According to the Director of National Intelligence, this strategy is likely to continue, and the war is unlikely to end anytime soon.

As a reminder, Vadym Skibitskyi, Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, believes that the war in Ukraine cannot end on the battlefield. In his opinion, even if the Defense Forces managed to drive the Russians back to the border, it would not put an end to the war.
