"The Russians are throwing everything at restraining our advance": Zelenskyy talks about the Armed Forces' counter-offensive in eastern and southern Ukraine. Video
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy told how the counter-offensive of our Armed Forces in the south and east of the country is progressing. Ukrainian soldiers continue to actively move forward and deter Russian assaults.
At the same time, the aggressor country, Russia, is making every effort to stop the advance of the Defence Forces. Zelenskyy said this in his evening address on Friday, 14 July (to watch the video, scroll to the bottom of the page).
He and the military leadership discussed the situation on the frontline today at a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff. They talked about what is important to ensure the advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the front: shells, weapons, equipment, rational use of ammunition, supplies from partners and Ukrainian production, and logistics.
"Everyone should understand very clearly - as clearly as possible - that the Russian forces in our southern and eastern lands are investing everything they can to stop our soldiers. And every thousand metres of advance, every success of each of our combat brigades deserves gratitude. Everyone who goes on an assault, everyone who repels enemy attacks, is a hero, and I am grateful to each of our soldiers!" the guarantor said.
He noted that during the meeting he had heard reports from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, commanders of operational areas, commanders from specific areas of the frontline, the Minister of Internal Affairs, and the head of the State Border Guard Service.
"There was an important report by the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Budanov, on the situation in Belarus - we are closely monitoring what is happening there in terms of security. As of today, there are no large-scale threats. Our full focus is on the frontline," Zelenskyy added.
He also said that the international work planned for this week is not over yet. Over the next two days, important negotiations will take place for Ukraine.
"And we are already preparing for the coming weeks. We will not reduce our international activity for a day, in particular with regard to the Peace Formula, security guarantees for Ukraine on its way to NATO, and agreements with partners on weapons for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia. We are also preparing new NSDC decisions on sanctions," the President said.
Zelenskyy also continued to hold meetings on the transformation of Ukraine. Today - on military education. "All the experience of our soldiers, all the competences of Ukrainians in the war, our joint new defence experience with our partners - all this must be integrated into the updated Ukrainian military education," he said.
"It is clear that this sector at the state level deserves a significant upgrade. And it is very important that those who are actually defending our country and are already training the defenders of our state are involved in the discussion of such an upgrade," the guarantor added.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a regular meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff on Friday, 14 July. The participants discussed the situation at the front, the advance, defence and new defence packages.
