The Russian army continues to build fortifications in the occupied south of Ukraine. Dozens of new fortifications have appeared in the deep rear on the defense line near Tokmak and Berdiansk.

This was reported by the Center for Investigative Journalism. The journalists used data from the European Space Agency's Sentinel-2 satellite.

The images show that between December 2023 and January 2024, the Russians built more than 20 km of fortifications on the line between the villages of Mykolaivka, Sofiivka, and Ivanivka, 30 km north of the temporarily occupied Berdiansk. During the same period, new fortifications appeared near the village of Zamistia on the H-30 Tokmak-Berdiansk highway.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on the left bank of the Kherson region, Russian invaders are making efforts to strengthen their defense. They are actively building defensive structures - despite the fact that during the occupation of this part of the region, Russian troops have already built powerful defense lines on the second and third lines.

Earlier, Humeniuk said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are working to expand their foothold on the left bank of the Kherson region. They are doing this in extremely difficult conditions.

The Russian invaders do not stop their assaults and attempts to drive Ukrainian soldiers from the bridgehead. However, the Defense Forces are not only repelling the attacks, but are also trying to take new positions. Humeniuk emphasized that the work of the soldiers on the left bank looks too slow from the outside, but in the conditions in which it is carried out, every meter of land liberated is a significant achievement.
