A volunteer from Belarus, Dzmitry "Hans" Rubashevsky, who died fighting for Ukraine, has posthumously received the Cross of the Brave award from the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valeriy Zaluzhny. The warrior's young daughter now has her father's award.
This was reported on the Telegram channel of the Free Belarus Charitable Foundation on Sunday, November 5. They published a photo of the girl with her father's award.
"Today, the daughter of the Hero of Belarus, Dzmitry Rubashevskyi, call sign Hans, who gave his life in Ukraine for its freedom, received her father's award "Cross of the Brave" from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Zaluzhnyi. Posthumously. Glory to the Hero!" the statement reads.
Dmytro Rubashevskyi died on April 12, 2022, while performing a combat mission in the Luhansk region. The soldier fought as part of a company tactical group that made raids into the enemy's rear. Before his death, "Hans" killed the commander of the Russian group.
Rubashevskyi has been fighting for Ukraine since 2015 in the ranks of the Right Sector. He received the public award "People's Hero of Ukraine" for defending the Butivka mine. "Hans" was wounded three times, and in 2019 he lost an eye in combat.
After the injury, he was cared for by the sister of his fallen comrade. They soon got married and had a daughter.
In early September 2023, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi awarded him the Order for Courage, III degree.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, another volunteer from Belarus was killed in the fighting for Ukraine. Pavel Gorbach with the call sign "Bort" and his friend Dmytro Apanasovich came to our country in March 2022.
