"The enemy is trapped": Maliar says Russian army cannot leave Bakhmut. Video

The Ukrainian defence forces continue to advance in the Bakhmut sector and have reached many dominant heights. As a result, the Russian occupiers are trapped - they cannot leave the town and cannot move around it.

This was reported by Deputy Minister of Defence Hanna Maliar on We Are Ukraine TV channel. She noted that Ukrainian soldiers are moving along the southern flank of Bakhmut (to watch the video, scroll to the end of the news).

"We have already reached many dominant heights, and the enemy is trapped there, because they cannot leave Bakhmut and cannot move fully within the city," said the Ministry of Defence spokesperson.

According to her, fierce fighting continues near Klishchiyivka, Kurdyumivka and Andriivka.

The day before, Maliar said that in the Bakhmut sector, the Defence Forces had liberated another 1 square kilometre of territory on its southern flank over the past week. According to her, the dispersal of units there resembles a kind of horseshoe around Bakhmut.

On the northern flank of the city, the Russian occupiers are attacking because they want to regain their lost positions - to recapture what the Ukrainian Armed Forces have taken.

- Soldiers of the 2nd Mechanised Battalion of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade showed how they conduct an assault in the Bakhmut direction. Ukrainian defenders drove the Russian occupiers out of the southern outskirts of the city.

- In an interception made public by the DIU, the occupier complained to his comrade about the significant losses of the Russian Federation in the Bakhmut sector. The invader retold the words of his colleague: "He says we have almost no people left in our unit... In general, he says, we have grown in numbers in the base."
