The enemy has the advantage: the Ministry of Defense named the current ratio of ammunition in the armies of Ukraine and Russia

Ukraine is looking for technological and innovative solutions to gain an advantage on the battlefield

The Russian occupation army has an advantage over our troops in terms of ammunition. Today, the ratio is 1 to 7 in favor of the enemy.

This was stated by Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk on the air of the United News telethon. At the same time, he noted that this difference would be significantly reduced in a month or two.

"Today, unfortunately, there is a ratio of 1 to 7 in favor of the enemy. But thanks to the EU initiative, the Czech initiative, and aid packages from other partner countries, I think that in a month or two this difference will be significantly reduced. There will not be such a large ratio in favor of Russia," Havryliuk assured.

According to him, Ukraine cannot and does not seek to compete with Russia in terms of weapons or manpower. Instead, we are looking for technological and innovative solutions to gain an advantage on the battlefield over the enemy. The deputy minister emphasized that in today's war, the winner is the one who has more accurate shells and a longer range.

Havryliuk also noted that domestic production of ammunition and mortar shells is growing, with a significant increase compared to 2022. According to him, Ukraine today produces almost the entire range of artillery ammunition.

"A 155 mm ammunition is under development, and we produce the rest of the ammunition. How much is another question, but the growth of our production and scaling is going quite well, and I think we will achieve the plans set by the president by the end of the year," he said.

At the same time, the Ukrainian army today desperately needs effective means to strengthen the country's air defense shield. And Ukraine is working with several countries to resolve this issue, the deputy minister noted.

"In particular, an air defense coalition led by Germany was created within the framework of the 17th Ramstein meeting. The Coalition's implementation program addresses the issue of increasing the number of supplies of air defense systems and missiles to us. However, even the assistance we receive is not sufficient to cover all the facilities on the territory of our country," Havryliuk said.

He added that Ukraine's territory is very large and requires a significant amount of air defense equipment. And this protection should be multi-echeloned and locked into a single system, the general explained.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

Ukraine's diplomats are working with other countries that can implement the same arms initiatives as the Czech Republic. This was stated by Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

The European Union has announced the delivery of about half of the promised one million artillery rounds to Ukraine. Ukrainian soldiers should receive them by the end of March.
