If French soldiers who may be sent to Ukraine are deployed in the Dnipro and/or around Kyiv, it could become a "red line" for Russia and even force the Kremlin to agree to negotiations. This is the opinion of a military expert, French Colonel Vincent Arbaretier, who told LCI journalists about this.

According to him, France should send its military to Ukraine to "fulfill its role in the defense of Europe as a nuclear power". The Frenchman emphasized that this would not be a provocation to Russia. Instead, it should force Moscow to negotiate.

In fact, Arbaretier proposed that their soldiers divide Ukraine into occupied and free territories. "Two options are possible: along the Dnipro and around Kyiv. They can also be mixed so that the Russians cannot go further. Thus, they would risk coming under our fire," the expert believes.

According to Arbaretier, 20 thousand French soldiers will be enough for this purpose, who will be formed into special mobile brigades. "It's not about building a continuous line of people. We need separate units that can react very quickly. We need close combat and support units that will be able to hold back the Russians," the Frenchman said.

He added that France has previously used its Armed Forces in similar cases (for example, in Mali), meaning that it has sufficiently qualified soldiers and "there is no need to send untrained soldiers to Ukraine."

The expert did not specify what kind of negotiations, with whom and under what conditions the French would force Moscow to agree to.

As reported, the French president was perhaps the first Western leader to play along Russia's favorite nuclear game, saying that it is "inappropriate to threaten" the French when they also have nuclear weapons.

In addition, Macron confirmed that his statement of February 26 about the possibility of sending his troops to Ukraine in the future was not spontaneous or reckless.
