"The best way to defend ourselves": Slovak President calls for transferring weapons to Ukraine

Chaputova calls for weapons to be provided to Ukraine

President of Slovakia Zuzana Chaputova called on partner countries to provide Ukraine with weapons. The politician made this appeal against the backdrop of the terror that Russia has unleashed on Ukrainians in recent days.

On the social network X (exTwitter), Chaputova wrote that another New Year has come, accompanied by Russian atrocities. She noted that the terrorist state had fired a record number of missiles and drones at Ukrainian cities and towns.

"The best way to ensure that Moscow's aggression does not continue for another year is to provide Ukraine with the means necessary for self-defense," the Slovak president said.

''The best way to defend ourselves'': Slovak President calls for transferring weapons to Ukraine

In November, the Slovak parliament approved a program presented by the government headed by Prime Minister Robert Fico. It provides for the termination of military assistance to Ukraine from Slovakia. The new prime minister's election program stated that the new government intends to "seek an end to hostilities, while recognizing Ukraine's international borders."

In December, thousands of protests against Fico's government began in Slovakia because of the executive branch's intentions to amend the criminal code.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, Slovakia has changed its mind about Ukraine's accession to the EU and is ready to support the start of negotiations with Kyiv. They noted positive changes in the implementation of reforms in Ukraine.
