Targets have been hit: the Main Directorate of Intelligence confirms drone attacks on Russian regions

Main Directorate of Intelligence confirms drone attack on Russian regions

The Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine confirmed a drone attack on Russian regions on December 17. It was part of the "planned work of the Main Directorate of Intelligence".

The intelligence officials assured that the occupiers' statements about the alleged downing of all drones are somewhat exaggerated: targets were hit. This was reported by Hromadske with reference to an intelligence source.

"There are targets hit. This is a planned work of the Main Directorate of Intelligence," the source said.

It is currently unknown what targets were hit and where exactly.

At the same time, OBOZ.UA's intelligence sources confirm that the Main Directorate of Intelligence drones attacked three Russian regions at night and in the morning of December 17, but deny involvement in the attack on the Morozovsk military airfield in Rostov region.

Earlier, Ukrainian and Russian Telegram channels began to circulate images of drone wreckage found on the airfield. The photos also show at least one damaged Russian military aircraft. It is likely to be a Su-34 bomber.

Meanwhile, in the morning, the Russian Defense Ministry announced a massive night attack by "Ukrainian" UAVs on three Russian regions at once: Lipetsk, Rostov and Volgograd. The invaders boasted that they had allegedly shot down 35 Ukrainian drones on the night of December 16-17.

Meanwhile, the Russian media outlet Astra noted that the target of the night attack on the Rostov region could have been the Morozovsk military airfield, where Su-24, Su-24M, and Su-34 bombers are stationed.

The governor of the region, Vasily Golubev, was more reserved than the Russian Defense Ministry. He confirmed that drones had attacked the Morozovsk and Kamensk districts in Rostov Oblast. There, the official assured, "most of the drones were destroyed." However, he remained silent on what happened to those that were not shot down.
