Sweden to provide Ukraine with a new military aid package: what it will include

Sweden plans to provide Ukraine with a new military support package worth SEK 3.4 billion ($313.5 million). It will consist mainly of ammunition and spare parts for previously supplied weapons systems.

The announcement was made by Defence Secretary Pal Johnson on Tuesday, 15 August. It was reported by the international news agency Reuters.

"We have to prepare for the fact that this could be a protracted war, and we also have a long-term perspective so that we can maintain the platforms we send to Ukraine on an ongoing basis," Johnson said at a press conference.

The new package of military aid from Sweden will be the 13th for Ukraine since the start of the large-scale war.

As a reminder, Ukraine has started receiving Swedish Satcube satellite internet terminals, which are an alternative to the American Starlink from Elon Musk's SpaceX company. Starlink offers higher connection speeds than Satcube (100 Mbps vs. 70 Mbps), but the latter has an important advantage: their signal will be harder for the enemy to block thanks to geostationary satellites.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the Swedish government has announced the allocation of $584 million to restore Ukraine and implement reforms in our country that will help pave the way for EU membership. First of all, the funds will be used to build Ukrainian infrastructure and healthcare facilities.
